Webfork is correct, there is a portable version. Worked fine for me on XP. I also like the knockoff of it called Pinta available for Linux. It's not full-featured yet, but it certainly works.Off-topicP If you really want portable, put your favorite version of Linux including whatever programs you want on a USB stick and you've got an entire portable OS!

It's a real pity that the newer versions (aka 1.2.0 onwards) aren't portable, because the whole interface has been wonderfully overhauled and a whole slew of new features have been implemented. According to , the developers basically have no interest in making this portable.

Whitenoir converts any image to a strictly two colour monochrome image. Using a really simple user interface it's possible to convert any image in just three mouse clicks. Tried it out and was disappointed. Better than many sketch programs, but still not satisfactory.Thanks to Loner for recommending "Instant Photo Sketch". It is not portable, but it is by far the best sketch program in my experience.

ArtRage is a painting package that features numerous realistic painting tools in a simple, intuitive environment. ArtRage lets you paint your own picture from a blank canvas, or load an image to 'trace' using any of its painting tools, letting you recreate your own images as painting.Note: ArtRage no longer appears to be portable. The settings are written to the user profile folder instead of the application folder. Therefore I am freezing the portable version at V1.1 until further development.
